• Early Life: Mark is a life-long Kansan; born in Lawrence, KS and raised in Emporia by a single mother who emphasized the importance of education. His mother's return to school as a non-traditional student inspired Mark’s lifelong value of education.

• Education: After graduating from Emporia High School, Mark followed a family tradition by attending Johnson County Community College (JCCC), after receiving an associate degree Mark furthered his education with a BS in Business and Accounting from Emporia State University.

• Career Journey: Mark worked his way through college as a union carpenter before his roles in logistics operations at Target, Kohls, and Smithfield Foods, Mark's career is marked by fiscal responsibility and strong relationship-building. Transitioning into accounting and real estate, Mark continues to demonstrate his versatility and commitment to excellence.

• Family: Married to the love of his life, Mark and Anna have three children, Marcus, Esha, and Amala. The Hamills have roots that are deeply planted in Kansas going back six generations. They live in Lenexa and actively participate in New City Church, Shawnee.

• Community Service: Mark is currently serving as a Trustee at JCCC and leverages his firsthand experience as a former student to advocate for educational opportunities and student success, reflecting his dedication to giving back to the community.
